A ROAD LESS TRAVELED
MUSIC FOR SOLO TUBA AND PIANO

My solo album of favorite music for solo tuba, performed with Rodrigo Ojeda accompanying on piano. Also includes music of John Stevens, L. Ray Strobel, Guissepi Verdi, David Stock and Jan Krzywicki. Performed on the Melton/Meinl Weston 2250 and 6450.

"I am quite impressed by Knox's full yet concentrated tone and crisp articulation, by his subtle dynamic control when playing at breakneck speed, and by the intricate ensemble with pianist Rodrigo Ojeda."        American Record Guide

JOHN HARBISON CHAMBER MUSIC

For a number of years, I played with the Chicago Chamber Musicians Brass Quintet. The performances by the late Lorraine Hunt Lieberson (on another piece) are beautiful. Performers in the quintet: Charles Geyer, Barbara Butler, Gail Williams, Michael Mulcahy and Craig Knox.

"Harbison's depiction of Herod through a ranging tuba [is] played with gusto by Craig Knox"  Gramophone

TANGAZO
NEW WORLD SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

This recording includes SenseMaya, another work which is rarely performed, but which has a major tuba solo which is often asked on auditions. I played it on a CC tuba (Alexander 163); although I'm happy with the result on this recording, I've played it on F tuba ever since. There are many other obscure pieces on this album, many with great tuba parts.

 A BRASS AND ORGAN CHRISTMAS

I did not perform on this recording, but I did produce the sessions. The Bay Brass is a large brass ensemble comprised of many of the best brass players from the San Francisco area, heard here with John Fenstermaker on organ, as recorded in Grace Cathedral. Some great original arrangements, and first-rate playing. Peter Wahrhaftig is the tubist. A wonderful Christmas CD.
